Minor FireAnts To Face 495ers in Eastern Conference Championship The wait is finally over folks you can all rest easy until Saturday May 17th at 4:00 pm at Zrink in Glastonbury, CT. The date has been set to stage the Glastonbury FireAnts facing off against the Long Island 495ers in their first ever Minor League Championship appearance. Last year the Ants were able to make it to the first round of the playoffs but ended up losing to the Wallington Grizzlies and ending their hopes of seeing the Championship game. This year was different though, with the Glastonbury FireAnts having the most points out of any minor team in the nation and winning home court advantage throughout the playoffs. The playoffs began for the Ants when they played the Holbrook Swamp Donkeys and sweeping them 2-0 in a best of 3 series. "We played hard and the Donkeys played hard but we just happened to come out on top in both games," says Conrad Alicki. The Ants will play the Long Island 495ers in the championship games this coming weekend. The 495ers just previously beat the CT Hitmen in two close playoff games 2-0. The Hitmen did have a short bench but did come to play giving the 495ers a difficult time. In the end Long Island was victorious and earned the right to go to the Championship with the Ants. This past season the Ants are 3 and 1 against the 495ers with their one loss coming in over time down at the 495er's home rink Skate Safe. "We are looking forward to these games this weekend and I'm sure they are going to be exciting. Every time we play these guys the games are intense and down to the wire and I wouldn't expect anything else this coming weekend," says Defenseman Hal Withington. The Puck Drops at 4:00 p.m. on May 17th at Zrink in Glatonbury, CT. Its sure to be an amazing group of games as the FireAnts take on the 495ers in the Minor League Eastern Conference Championship.
