The Hartford Fireants Elite team begins the 2016-2017 season Saturday December 3rd, 2016 at 10:40am vs. Delco Demons.  Delco was the 2015 East Coast conference champions.  With the Fireants Elite team still working on its’ first playoff win in franchise history, the team worked to rebuild off of a great year filled with great results.  “We had a lot of new guys last season, most of which are coming back this year”, Head Coach Jim Miller said.  The team ended last season short again of winning a playoff game, losing 2 nail-biting games against the division foe Long Island 495ers.  What can they do to get past this?

In the off-season, the team worked to fill some voids.  Former Fireants defenseman John Pinheiro joins the team after playing with the Empire State Legends last year.  “I love the logo” John says as to the main reason for coming back.  John will hopefully add solid defense, with an offensive option that will hopefully add a lot on the scoreboard.  More Canadians also joined the team.  Forwards Mathieu Garceau and Max St-Michel join the Fireants front, hoping to add depth to the team. “Je veux etre aver mon ami Max et see chèvre” Max said of his new teammate.

“With the season mostly played in Jamboree format, we worked hard on deepening our bench, as we will be forced to play a lot of guys to make sure we have legs at the end of each game”, coach Miller said.  Finally, the team added defenseman Jeff Whitley, who looks to add solid and smart play to an already strong Fireants defensive core.  “I completely idolize Stephen Conti, being on this team just makes us that much closer”, Whitley said of joining the team.

With only a few weeks away, the team is still working on putting the puzzle together, but the opening jamboree weekend will certainly give the team a good idea of where they stand.
