The Hartford Fireants officially announce tryouts for the 2016-2017 elite team, along with the Connecticut and Long Island Minor teams, Saturday October 22, 2016 at Skate Safe of America in Old Bethpage, NY from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. There will be a general skate from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, at which time players trying out for the elite team will move to the second rink and have a focused tryout while the minor teams continue tryouts. Tryout fees will be $35 for all new players and $25 for returning Fireant players.
The Fireants look to build off of the Tier II championship won last year, and with all teams making the playoffs. “The structure of the division has changed, so we have to make sure that we fill additional roster spots, and improve our depth” elite coach and Minor player Jim Miller says. What he is referring to is the New England and Atlantic Divisions have officially merged, making the elite division much more wide open with over twice as many teams. The minor division will be split at the start of the season into Tier I and Tier II. Where will the teams fall? That is yet to be determined. Additionally, the format of the games have changed to Jamboree formats, where teams will play their games more concentrated on a few weekends.
Come join our Fireants family, an organization that has a lot of fun, and has continued to move up in the standings. The team has players all over the country, including Canada, and will open the door for any opportunity.
