Young Guns! FireAnts Open Feasterville Jamboree With Win Over Winchester Generals

November 7th 2009, Sportsplex - Feasterville, PA

FireAnts Surge PreseasonFeasterville PA, - Months of practice gave way to excitement as the puck dropped Saturday morning on the firs t game of the Feasterville Jamboree and the first game of the Ants season. “Guys have been on edge, everyone wants to play and is sick of beating each other up in practice twice a week,” Coach Joe Furnari said in a pregame interview.

“We’re ready to go.”

The Ants lined up against the Winchester Generals in their first game and were ready from the start. The Ants had never played Winchester previously and were wary despite the fact that Winchester only had 6 skaters.

It didn’t take long for the Ants to get going as Tyler Dasilva finished off a give-and-go with Matt Zuba in the first minute of play. The outburst wouldn’t stop there as Tyler scored 3 of his game high four goals in the first 6 minutes of play. The Ants attack swarmed over Winchester and Nicky Tomczyk also scored a hat-trick before Coach Joe sat the veterans and let the new guys get some experience. Winchester skated hard despite being outmanned and scored two goals, one short handed, as the Ants got complacent during the game. Meyers, Withington, Zuba, and Corona (first AIHL goal) also scored for Hartford while Jim Miller and Danny Christ had 3 assists a piece. Stoupa and Ricketts scored for Winchester. The Ants moved to 1-0 on the season and Winchester fell to 0-1.
